Bank of the West Classic Announces Partial Schedule

BANK OF THE WEST CLASSIC ANNOUNCES PARTIAL SCHEDULE

Americans Madison Keys and CiCi Bellis highlight Monday action.

Stanford, California – The Bank of the West Classic has announced a partial schedule for the upcoming event, August 3-9 at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium on the campus of Stanford University.

Highlighting Monday’s action will be a pair of rising Americans. Local product CiCi Bellis will take the court during the day session with Madison Keys taking the count for the 7 pm featured evening match.

The 16-year-old Bellis, from Atherton, won the USTA Girls 18s National title at 15. She made headlines at the 2014 US Open when she defeated Dominika Cibulkova in the opening round. She will face a qualifier in her first round match.

Keys, the tournament’s No. 7 seed, has put together a strong 2015 season reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open and the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. The 20-year-old has quickly risen in the rankings and currently stands at No. 18 in the world.

Tuesday evening will feature a pair of high profile singles matches as No. 5 seed and 2015 Bank of the West Classic finalist Angelique Kerber will take the court at 7pm followed by 2013 Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki.

Wednesday evening will feature No. 2 seed Agnieszka Radwanska versus the winning of Bellis’ match on Monday.

The Bank of the West Classic, a Premier WTA event, features a 28-player singles draw as well as a 16-team doubles draw. The event is owned and operated by IMG and serves as the opening women's event of the Emirates Airline US Open Series.

The list of past champions of the event reads like a Who's Who of women's tennis including Serena Williams, Lindsay Davenport, Billie Jean King, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Andrea Jaeger, Monica Seles, Martina Hingis, Venus Williams and Kim Clijsters.

Qualifying will be held August 1-2 and is free to the public.
