Stanford Calif. (www.mubadalasvc.com)- The official player field for the Bank of the West Classic was announced today, with two top-4 players committed for the 2013 event.
Highlighting this year’s player field is four-time Grand Slam Champion Maria Sharapova, world No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska, world No. 14 and 2011 US Open Champion Samantha Stosur, 2009 Bank of the West Champion and current world No. 15 Marion Bartoli and current world No. 18 Dominika Cibulkova.
Sharapova, fresh off a finals appearance at the French Open at Roland Garros, has competed three times in the Bank of the West Classic reaching the quarterfinals or better each year. Sharapova reached the finals of the event in 2010.
Current world No. 4 Radwanska will be making her fourth Bank of the West Classic appearance. She has 12 career singles titles to her credit including two already this season.
2011 US Open Champion Stosur will be making her sixth appearance at the Bank of the West Classic. Stosur has competed well in the tournament in years past, reaching the semifinals in 2009 and 2010.
