World No. 9 Angelique Kerber Enters Impressive Player Field

STANFORD, Calif. (www.mubadalasvc.com) – For the second time in four years, the Bank of the West Classic player field will feature four of the top 10 womens tennis players in the world. Ninth-ranked Angelique Kerber has officially entered to compete in the 2014 Bank of the West Classic, joining World No. 1 and 17-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, World No. 4 and 2012 Wimbledon finalist Agnieska Radwanska along with defending Bank of the West Classic champion, Australian Open finalist and World No. 10 Dominika Cibulkova.

Kerber, who had a breakthrough season in 2012 as she finished fifth in the world, will be returning to Stanford for just the second time in her career as she looks to claim her 4th career WTA title and first-ever Bank of the West Classic trophy. The German won her first two WTA titles in 2012 and could very well be on her way to her third straight Top 10 season.

On top of featuring four of the Top 10, the premier WTA event will display six of the Top 20, including No. 13 Ana Ivanovic and No. 17 Samantha Stosur. Ivanovic has won 13 WTA titles in her 11-year career, including a French Open championship in 2008, while Stosur has five titles to her name, including a US Open championship in 2011, and is en route to her sixth consecutive Top 20 season.
