SAN JOSÉ, CA (May 19, 2022) – The women’s draw for the upcoming French Open has been released and 2022 Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic entry Coco Gauff is seeded 18th heading into the second Grand Slam of the season, which begins on Sunday, May 22 in Paris, France.
Gauff will face a qualifier in her opening round match. Her opponent will be determined once qualifying concludes on Friday, May 20. The 18-year-old American superstar advanced to the quarterfinals of last year’s French Open and is in the same quarter of the draw as defending champion Barbora Krejcikova (CZE).

Currently ranked No. 18 in the WTA world singles rankings and No. 10 in the world doubles rankings, Gauff will be making her Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic debut in San José this August. She has already captured two Hologic WTA Tour singles titles and four doubles crowns in her young career.
Gauff is one of only two WTA players currently ranked in the top-18 in singles and doubles.
Gauff captured the hearts and minds of the world in 2019 when, as a 15-year-old, she advanced to the Round of 16 at Wimbledon, which included a first-round win over the five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams. She has continued to quickly progress up the world rankings ending the 2019 season at No. 68, the 2020 season at No. 48, and the 2021 season at No. 22.
