SAN JOSÉ, CA (June 27, 2018) – Wimbledon announced its Ladies Championship seedings today and nine players who will compete at the 2018 Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic find themselves among the list of 32 including defending Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic champion Madison Keys, seeded 10th, and Serena Williams seeded No. 25.

With nine Wimbledon seeds in the player field, this year’s Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic should be one of the most competitive in recent memory. Including wildcard entry Victoria Azarenka, the overall field includes 13 players who have won at least one WTA singles title. The 2018 player field has combined to win 161 career WTA singles titles.
In addition to Keys and Williams, other Wimbledon seeds include Elise Bertens (No. 15), CoCo Vandeweghe (No. 16), Johanna Konta (No. 22), Maria Sharapova (No. 24), Mihaela Buzarnescu (No. 29), Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (No. 30) and Zhang Shuai (No. 31).
The opening round of the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic will be very strong with Grand Slam champions Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka, along with Americans Danielle Collins, Alison Riske, CiCi Bellis and Sachia Vickery likely to play on either Monday, July 30 or Tuesday, July 31.
Formerly known as the Bank of the West Classic in Palo Alto, the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic is a weeklong WTA Premier event bringing the worlds of tennis and technology together in a festival of sports and entertainment. The new venue at San José State University will provide a high-end, family friendly atmosphere and will put fans close to the action as they watch their favorite stars compete.
